‘Our best player by a mile’: Some Sunderland fans wowed by ‘starboy’ despite drawing last night

A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to praise Glasgow Rangers loanee Jordan Jones for another great performance.

The 26-year-old joined the Black Cats on loan from the Ibrox club at the end of January and has made appearances to date for the Wearside outfit.

Jones’ efforts helped the Stadium of Light side surge into automatic promotion contention, though they’ve since suffered a downturn in form.

Sunderland have lost three and drawn two of their last five to leave them seven points behind second-placed Peterborough with four games to go.

On Tuesday night, Lee Johnson’s charges played out a 2-2 draw at Hull City, with Jones breaking the deadlock on 10 minutes with a thumping volley past Matt Ingram.

The Tigers equalised through Josh Magennis in the 28th minute, but Sunderland went ahead six minutes later through Grant Leadbitter’s spot kick.

In the end, the spoils were shared as Magennis netted again just after the hour mark.

Despite another frustrating result, Jones emerged with a lot of credit, with fans once again praising his efforts during and after the game:

Roker Report gave Jones 8 out of 10 and : “Showed peerless technique to put Sunderland ahead, caused the Tigers constant problems darting in at the back post.

“Had some excellent set-piece deliveries and showcased his blistering pace as usual.”
