Ossie Ardiles heaps praise on Giovani Lo Celso after Tottenham win

Tottenham Hotspur continued their recent good form last night by picking up a 2-0 win over Royal Antwerp in their final Europa League group stage fixture, securing top spot in the process.

Goals from Carlos Vinicius and Giovani Lo Celso confirmed the win for Spurs, who also got revenge over the Belgian side after their shock win earlier in the competition.

It was a drab first-half display from Spurs, who had rested the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, and Hugo Lloris for the fixture, but Jose Mourinho’s men were much improved in the second half and ended up being fully deserving of the three points.

Mourinho could take plenty of positives from the win but perhaps none more so than the performance of Lo Celso.

Not for the first time this season the Argentine has shone for Spurs in the Europa League and continues to showcase what an exceptional asset he is to the Tottenham cause going forward.

His performance even caught the eye of another Argentine with Tottenham links.

Ossie Ardiles, who played for and managed Spurs, was clearly impressed by the display of Lo Celso.

Lo Celso has been in and out of the first-team in the Premier League this season because of injury, fitness, and Mourinho’s preferred starting XI.

However, after another impressive display in Europe, Lo Celso will no doubt be pushing to retain his place in the Tottenham first-team for their next Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
