‘Only one affected is Arsenal’: Mikel Arteta lashes out at the Premier League after what they’ve done ‘again’
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was proud of his players despite the defeat to Liverpool last night, but he is furious with the Premier League.
The Gunners hosted the Reds yesterday and it was a really tight game. Arsenal went toe to toe against Jurgen Klopp’s side and for the first 50 minutes of the game, they were arguably the better side. However, Liverpool showed their class and picked up a deserved win in the end.
Arsenal have no time to sulk now as they take on Aston Villa in the early kickoff on Saturday, just two-and-a-half days after the game against Liverpool. The same will happen next month when the Gunners will have to face Chelsea and Manchester United on Wednesday night and Saturday noon respectively.
Arteta, predictably, is not happy with the scheduling.

Speaking about the quick turnaround, Arteta said sarcastically, as per : “Thank you so much to the Premier League.
“To do that and they’ve done it again when we have to play Chelsea and Manchester United, so if they want to give them any advantage, I say to them today, thank you so much for doing that.
“Don’t worry, the players will be there on Saturday with the energy. They will sleep, eat well, but thank you so much to the Premier League for putting the fixtures like this, it’s very, very helpful.
“It’s not fair what they’ve done. It’s always Sky or BT, this or that, but the only one that is affected is Arsenal and the only thing that I care about and what we care about, is Arsenal and for Arsenal, it’s not fair.”
TBR View:
It really is odd that Arsenal are being asked to travel to Birmingham and take on Aston Villa at lunchtime on Saturday after playing late on Wednesday night.
It is a ridiculously quick turnaround and to make things worse, the Gunners will have to do the same next month against their top-four rivals Chelsea and Manchester United. That really puts them at a disadvantage.
The game against Villa on Saturday, like the one against Manchester United on the 20th of next month, could’ve easily been pushed to Sunday. That would’ve made a lot more sense, but the Premier League decided that wasn’t necessary and Arteta has every right to be furious with the decision.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be able to recover on Saturday after they gave everything against Liverpool last night.
