One year after Coutinho prevented deal Sunderland should rekindle Ben Woodburn interest

Ben Woodburn appears to be on the market yet again with a long list of clubs likely to be interested in signing the Welsh international. His loan spell at Sheffield United has come to an end after a lack of first-team football. Liverpool now want him to join a club where he will play regular football.

So should Sunderland join the race?

The Black Cats could certainly use more creativity in the final third and would no doubt offer Woodburn the sort of game time that Liverpool want him to get.

It would also not be the first time that Sunderland tried to sign Woodburn. Last January they were close to securing his loan arrival. Then Sunderland boss Chris Coleman had given Woodburn his international debut and was believed to be keen on his signature.

However, the deal fell through., the deal fell through as Jurgen Klopp wanted Woodburn to add depth to the side after

Coleman has gone, but Jack Ross would undoubtedly love to have Woodburn at his disposal for their League One promotion chase.

With Liverpool now ready to let him out once again, Sunderland could be the perfect destination one year on.
