One winner and loser as Aston Villa sign Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham

after the forward couldn’t be guaranteed game time by new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

Abraham featured in Chelsea’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City. However, he has failed to appear in any of the London clubs opening Premier League fixtures.

The England international spent the season on loan at Swansea last season, where he suffered relegation heartache with the Welsh side and went on a 17-game goal drought.

Winner – Aston Villa

If Abraham can rediscover the form, he showed while he was on loan at Bristol City in the Championship a few seasons ago then Villa have a real player on their hands.

Abraham managed to bag himself 26 goals in 48 appearances during his time in Bristol and lit up the Championship with some stellar performances.

The 20-year-old forward is still very young, and under the guidance of Steve Bruce, Villa seems to perfect stomping ground to get his career back on track.

Loser – Abraham’s chances of breaking into the England squad

Abraham has been capped by England twice, and with Euro 2020 on the horizon the forward would have been hoping to use this season as a chance to prove he is up there with the best forwards in the country.

Playing in the Championship will only hinder the 20-year-old’s chances of breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England setup, with the Premier League being the ideal place for him to prove that he’s able to play at the highest level.
