One winner and loser as Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson completes Hoffenheim loan
Arsenal’s teenage sensation Reiss Nelson committed to a new long-term contract at Arsenal but will make a season-long loan switch to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
Nelson is a fascinating prospect and graduated through the academy ranks in North London. However, a spell in the Bundesliga for the season is seen as the best step to take to further the youngster’s career.
Nelson made 16 appearances for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger in the 2017/18 campaign, having made his competitive debut in the 2017 Community Shield.

Winner – Nelson’s development
The Bundesliga is the perfect stage for Nelson to hone his talent and skills, giving the forward the opportunity to show that he is capable of gracing one of the grandest of domestic stages.
Arsenal will be hoping that the forward comes back to them after his loan spell with a better all-around skill set and ready to push for a starting position in the senior side week in, week out.
A move to one of the Bundesliga’s top teams to play under one of the leagues best managers in Julian Naglesmann will only benefit the 18-year-old in the long run.
Loser – Significant competition for places up front
The German side already have a big attacking arsenal with Szalai and Joelinton, as well as Croatian international Andrej Kramari to lead the line.
Arriving in Germany in a new league to play under a new coach with a very particular way of playing will be a tough ask for the teenager, especially with the season already underway, the 18-year-old will have to assert himself to make an instant impact.
