‘One of their better players’: Some Everton fans react to 23-year-old’s Bundesliga display today
Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny was in action on Saturday as one of Europe’s biggest leagues returned after a two-month suspension.
The Goodison Park academy graduate is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Schalke, who took part in the Ruhrderby against one of Germany’s best teams in Borussia Dortmund.
Many of the Toffees faithful kept tabs on Kenny as he came up against a Dortmund side boasting the likes of Erling Braut Haaland in the starting XI and Jadon Sancho on the bench.

It proved a tough day at the office for Kenny as his defence conceded four times, with Haaland opening the scoring and Raphael Guerreiro adding a brace either side of Thorgan Hazard’s strike.
That said, the 23-year-old wasn’t the worst player on the pitch by any means, and his end-of-match stats painted the picture of a fairly decent display.
counted 33 successful passes, 7 successful attacking third passes, 4 successful long balls, 9 recoveries, 4 successful tackles and 2 interceptions.
What did the Everton fanbase make of Kenny’s display? Here is some of the social media reaction:
Thought he looked ok, but the tactics of the manager left him exposed and he hasn’t got the pace to recover. It was the lad Tobido i was less than impressed by.

It’s easy to look at the result or the goals and assume that Kenny played poorly, but I agree with you; I didn’t think he played too badly and Todibo was poor.
Todibo was apparently their player of the month in March, so looks like he had an off day.

One of there better players today, Todibo looked very much like Mina eager to make a challenge to get tight but didn’t look the quickest but the kid is only 20

Spare a thought for Jonjoe Kenny, Rabbi Matondo and Weston McKennie who played well in the stinker Schalke served. The youngsters always looked to make things happen.

Jonjoe Kenny > Seamus Coleman. Discuss???

Surprised you said that. Thought he didn’t do an awful lot wrong. Made some decent forward passes, too. But I wasn’t paying 100% attention to be fair.
Schalke were outclassed by Dortmund though. Some very clinical stuff.
