‘One of the better ones’: Some Spurs fans loved 21-year-old’s display despite Mura loss
Spurs suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.
But despite the embarrassing team performance and shock result, some Tottenham fans sought to look on the bright side.
Oliver Skipp was one of the few players who emerged with some credit following Spurs’ loss in Slovenia.

The 21-year-old made Antonio Conte’s starting XI and gave a good account of himself in the match.
Skipp set up Harry Kane for a chance in the first half, worked hard in the centre of the pitch and was fairly tidy in possession.
Although some of his passing was a bit wayward, he was nonetheless one of the better players in the Tottenham team.
Some Spurs fans praised Skipp after the match:
I mean nobody was good but Skipp might have been one of the better ones

This is Skipp's 1st season in the PL so I've not yet given up on him and compared to our other CMs he's better than most.

Literally everyone be bad bar Skipp and Lloris.

Keep Skipp and Gil, then offload the rest of the starters to any bidder. Lowest. Highest….anything. Just take them all
— Adam Alfi (@AdamAlfi)
I thought Skipp was fantastic. Feel like he is our best central midfielder at the moment.

Spurs fell behind in the 11th minute as Tomi Horvat opened the scoring for the hosts.
Just after the hour mark, Tottenham’s task became more difficult as Ryan Sessegnon was sent off after two bookings.
Although Kane equalised in the 72nd minute, Spurs were caught out deep into injury time.
Mura broke as Tottenham pushed for a late winner and Amadej Marosa netted via a deflected shot to condemn the north Londoners to defeat.
