‘One of the best’: Nation’s media praises £134k-a-week Tottenham ace for World Cup display today

Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison will soon be returning from Qatar after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup at the quarter-final stage.

The Spurs forward thoroughly impressed for the Selecao en route to the last eight of the tournament.

However, Richarlison’s World Cup journey came to an end against Croatia, who prevailed on penalties.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Neymar had Brazil on the verge of the semi-finals with his 105th-minute strike.

Richarlison didn’t have a particularly bad game, with several Brazilian outlets praising his efforts on the day.

gave him 7 out of 10 and wrote: ‘He was scared at first when he felt muscle discomfort, but little by little he got into the game and became one of the best options playing the pivot.

‘He made good passes to Vini in the first half and two more to put Neymar in good positions in the second. A lot of fight in the marking with good ball recoveries.’

also gave Richarlison a 7 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the day.

‘He received few opportunities to finish,’ they wrote about the Tottenham star.

‘But he was the one who best served his teammates, making great pivot plays.

‘Without the ball, he offered the usual delivery.’

Meanwhile, gave the ace 5.5 out of 10.

They wrote: ‘Positioned in the middle, he didn’t get receive many chances with which he could finish.
