“One of our worst signings” – These Southampton fans react to Elyounoussi’s loan switch
Southampton have the departure of Mohamed Elyounoussi. The Norwegian winger has joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old will be desperate to get his career back on track with the reigning Scottish champions. He only joined the Saints in the summer of 2018, but he has failed to shine at St Mary’s Stadium. Last season, Elyounoussi managed to make just 19 appearances for the south coast club in all competitions.
The 24-cap Norway international needs to get back to playing regularly at this stage in his career, and will hope to get that chance with the Scottish giants. He has the capacity to become a key player for Neil Lennon’s side. If he can rediscover his best form with Celtic he may even be able to fight his way back into Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans at Southampton. However, it is more likely that the Premier League outfit will seek to move on Elyounoussi permanently next summer.

In any case, this looks like a move that suits all involved. Elyounoussi, for his own sake, needed to get away from Southampton and back to playing regular football.
Following the announcement of Elyounoussi’s exit, plenty of Southampton fans took to Twitter to react to his departure.
Good luck Moi
