On this day: Leeds United avoid winding-up order

It goes without saying that Leeds United have come a long way since the days of Massimo Cellino. 

No more Sky Sports blockades, unknown Italian recruitment or bizarre superstitions surrounding the number 17. 

Andrea Radrizzani and his team have brought an element of peace to Elland Road and, with it, success. Marcelo Bielsa guided the club back to the Premier League last season where they have had an exciting, albeit topsy-turvy, return to the top-flight. 

But six years ago to this very day, things were looking a lot different. 

Leeds United had just survived a winding-up order in the courts.

Former club director Melvyn Levi was pursuing the club for unpaid fees from the time of Ken Bates running the show. 

It was dismissed on this day six years ago, after Cellino and Levi came to an arrangement, which was welcome news for Leeds fans.

The winding up petition presented by Melvyn Levi has today (Wednesday November 12) been dismissed on agreed terms.

Mr Levi and Leeds United Football Club Limited are working towards resolving their remaining differences.

Bates led to GFH which led to Cellino, all three of them catastrophic and disliked by Leeds fans for a myriad of different reasons and, it seems, the very existence of the club was at stake during this period. 

Now, six years on, Leeds are back in the big time and hoping to stick around for a little while yet.
