Olivier Ntcham tells Celtic fans what they can expect of new signing Diego Laxalt
Olivier Ntcham played alongside new Celtic signing Diego Laxalt at Genoa during the Frenchman’s two-year loan spell at Serie A side Genoa between 2015 and 2017 – what Hoops fans can expect from the Uruguayan.
While on the books at Manchester City, 24-year-old Ntcham joined Genoa on a two-year loan in the summer of 2015 and clocked up 41 appearances in all competitions. He left in the summer of 2017, before joining Scottish champions Celtic.
During his two years in Italy, Ntcham teamed up with Laxalt – who starred for Genoa before earning a move to AC Milan in the summer of 2018. Since Laxalt has moved to the San Siro, though, he has played just 35 times in two seasons.
The left-footed ace has chosen to leave Milan on loan in search of game time, and the 27-year-old has now penned a loan move to Celtic – with a £9million permanent clause included, as per Ntcham gave his verdict on Laxalt.
“It’s great Diego has joined Celtic because he’s a very good player and a very good guy,” . “He’s a really quick player, really sharp and is very motivated. He’ll be a good for Celtic, he’s got the right mentality and always works hard for the team.”

TBR’s view – Could Laxalt take Celtic to 10 in a row?
Crucially, Laxalt has killed two birds with one stone. The Hoops needed to replace the loan exit of Boli Bolingoli – who has moved to Istanbul Basaksehir, while another winger is required at Parkhead.
Laxalt covers both gaps. It is difficult to pinpoint whether Laxalt is naturally a left-back or a winger given his ability to play in both positions. Having the South American, Celtic’s first ever Uruguayan, on board is a brilliant addition.
