Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lists Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane among top Manchester United transfer targets
According to , Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has listed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane among Manchester United’s priority transfer targets.
Solskjaer aims to add key players in four positions during the summer, with Kane viewed as the ideal centre-forward.
The Reds Devils boss also has eyes on deals for Pau Torres, Declan Rice and Jadon Sancho. Landing all four is unlikely, though, as United face estimated costs in excess of £300million.
Kane is the least likely to move to Old Trafford in the summer window, with Man City instead considered favourites. The England striker also has admirers at Chelsea (), who face difficulties convincing Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy to sell to Thomas Tuchel’s side.
A deal for Manchester United to sign Kane is also unlikely due to Levy’s reluctance to strengthen them again. The report the Tottenham chief is desperate to avoid the 27-year-old following past stars Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Carrick in leaving north London for Old Trafford.
With Solskjaer also for Sancho, Rice, Torres and Raphael Varane, Manchester United could struggle to raise the £150million () needed for Kane.

The cards are very much stacked against Manchester United in Solskjaer’s hopes of signing Kane. Levy will do all he can to keep the England captain at Tottenham and is under no pressure to sell.
Kane is under contract on a deal as one of Tottenham’s top-earners until 2024. He is also the Premier League’s after scoring 23 goals and topped the charts for assists with 14 this season.
So, if the Red Devils cannot afford to pay £150m, they will have to look elsewhere for their new striker. That would be a blow for Solskjaer, who has long admired Kane and ranks him in rare company.
“There aren’t many [Robert] Lewandowskis and Harry Kanes. They’re like [Alan] Shearer, [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy – fantastic goalscorers,” Solskjaer said, via quotes by the , in 2019.
“Ours are different types of players. But I have to say, I like someone who can finish half a chance and he does that. He’s one of the best, but he’s a Tottenham player.”
Kane may now remain a Tottenham player despite Solskjaer’s hope of making him a Manchester United star. Especially given Levy’s reluctance to strengthen a side now a direct rival for the top-four places.
