Oldham fans react on Twitter to Leeds loanee Alfie McCalmont’s display
A number of Oldham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Alfie McCalmont’s latest display as the Leeds United loanee scored his first career goal in the league on Saturday.
After a slow start, McCalmont’s loan spell with the Latics appears to be clicking into gear. The Northern Irishman recently scored twice in the EFL Trophy.

And he played a decisive role in their win over Cambridge this weekend. Firstly, it was the deflection off of his shot that allowed Conor McAleny to break the deadlock.
Three minutes later, McCalmont doubled the lead. The 20-year-old drove the ball home through a crowded box. That goal would prove to be the winner for the visitors with Cambridge getting one back after the midfielder was taken off.

Following the game, many took to social media to laud McCalmont. Several insisted that he was their standout performer in yet another away win. Remarkably, they have won their last six on the road and lost their two home games in that run.
Many suggested that they are seeing improvement from McCalmont. And they are confident that he is going to have a big role to play for the rest of his spell with the club.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Oldham fans made of the Leeds loanee’s performance…
Brilliant today Harry, every player.
Thought Mtambwe, Garrity, Fage and Jombate had their best games of the season.
McCalmont best player on the pitch.— Chris Williams (@chriswilliamsfc)
Ntambwe, Diarra and McCalmont 👌. Big win, just start doing it at home now

Full time. Wasn’t a moment of quality but the only player on display today capable of producing a moments of quality. The match winner for Alfie McCalmont. Decent win and well deserved.
