Ola Aina’s father says player was supposed to join Tottenham instead of Chelsea

that his son was supposed to sign for Tottenham Hotspur and that the l😼eft-sided f𒁏lyer was a fan of the club, but instead at the age of 11, he signed for Chelsea.

Aina, now 23, joined Serie A side Torino on a permanent basis in the summer f♕or a fee of £8.7million () from Chelsea – after spending the 2018-19 campai♑gn on loan in Italy’s capital. He played six times for Chelsea’s senior side.

The Nigeria international came through the ranks at Chelsea, clocking up 52 appearances for the Blues’ Under-23 side. A loan spell at Hull, though, showed what heﷺ was all about – clocking up ♊46 appearances for The Tigers in 2017-18.

Torino took a gamble and it has since seen the Italian side land Aina on a permanent basis, playing 42 times and earning 14 Nigeria caps. But his father claimed he could have started at Spurs, and that Ain🌟a was a Spurs fan.

“He was meant to sign for Tottenham,” . “They had him over for about three weeks, then on the da✨y he was supposed to sign, they kept acting funny. As a big Spurs fan, it was heartbreaking. Luckily, Chelsea officials were still calling us daily, so we decided, ‘Why not go where you are wanted?'”

TBR’s view – Could Tottenham do with Aina now?

Aina is a decent player and one that can play at either left-back or on the left wing. He is of Premier League standard, and one of the better left-backs in tꩲhe Serie A. But Spurs are better off without him, as are Chelsea.

Ben Davies is an excellent and consistent member of the Spurs side, and even thoꦇugh Danny Rose may want to leave the north London side, Spurs now have Ryan Sessegnon who🍬 can play on the left side of the defence.
