‘He’s taken a lot of stick’: One Tottenham player proved everyone wrong at Liverpool, says Jamie O’Hara

Tottenham defender, Ryan Sessegnon, has won the praise of former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara for his performance at Liverpool.

The former Fulham man has come into the team a lot recently when fit, with Antonio Conte seemingly impressed by the youngster’s form and abilities in that left wing-back role. Indeed, it seems Sessegnon is even ahead of Sergio Reguilon in the pecking order as things stand.

Sessegnon’s recent rise is in stark contrast to the form he’d shown since signing. He was sent on loan to Hoffenheim, where did at least play regularly. And speaking about Sessegnon after Tottenham’s draw at Liverpool, O’Hara believes he deserves credit for turning it around.

“He’s taken a lot of stick, Ryan. In terms of him coming and not being quite good enough, he’s let himself down a few times. I thought he did well today. He got the assist for the goal and he’s up against one of the best players in the world in Salah, and he kept him quiet,” O’Hara said on .

Sessegnon will be hoping to make the left wing-back slot his own now. With Reguilon potentially being sold this summer, there is a real chance for the Englishman to stake his claim.

TBR’s View: Sessegnon Needs To Keep Seizing His Tottenham Chance

Sessegnon’s development lately is good for Tottenham. It’s essentially like having a new signing and he could end up saving the club money in the market.

Conte certainly seems impressed with the youngster. Yes, there is plenty of work to do in terms of his improvement and development, but you can see the confidence coming back into his game.

He’s proven how good he is with Fulham and it’s just a case of harnessing that talent and improving further. If Spurs can get Sessegnon back to that level, then Conte will be delighted.
