Nuno provides Steven Bergwijn injury update ahead of Rennes
Spurs have received a big boost ahead of Thursday’s clash with Rennes, with Nuno Espirito Santo confirming that Steven Bergwijn is in contention to play in France – .
Bergwijn was one of several players who left Nuno with a headache over the international break. He sustained an injury while away with The Netherlands.

The forward missed Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace.
Reports this week suggested that he could potentially return for Sunday’s clash with Chelsea. And obviously, some would assume off the back of that that an appearance against Rennes was unlikely.
However, Nuno has confirmed that Bergwijn is involved after recovering from his injury. And he later insisted that every player who has travelled is in contention to start.

“Bergwijn is better, he travelled with us, he trained yesterday and today, he is much better,” he said, .
Spurs will welcome Bergwijn return from injury after dismal day at Selhurst Park
Spurs desperately missed the likes of Bergwijn and Son Heung-min at Selhurst Park. They lacked energy and intent going forward.
So having Bergwijn back is a huge boost. He is one of the players who looks to have really stepped up so far this season.
It remains to be seen if Nuno risks him against the Ligue 1 side. It would arguably be a gamble with the priority surely being Sunday’s game against Chelsea.
But to have him available and getting back to full fitness is excellent news.
And Spurs fans will be hoping that he is one of several who find themselves back in contention after Saturday’s sobering defeat.
