Nuno Espirito Santo says heavily-criticised Manchester United star is actually ‘one of the best’

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has heaped praise on Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes ahead of the game at the City Ground today.

The two sides play their last game of the year this evening, and it will be a really interesting watch. Forest have plenty of players who can hurt Manchester United, but if Fernandes has a good game, the visitors should be able to take all three points back home.

Nuno Espirito Santo hails Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes is one of Manchester United’s best players.

The Portugal international joined the Red Devils nearly four years ago, and his numbers in the famous red shirt are really, really good – 128 direct goal contributions in 210 appearances.

However, some of Fernandes’ antics are infuriating at times. He can be a very frustrating player to watch, and he has had his poor moments already this season.

That has led to a ton of criticism from numerous pundits, but Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has defended Fernandes and branded him as one of the best players in the Premier League.

He said, as per : “Bruno Fernandes, I have a big admiration for him, as a player and as an individual. He’s so competitive.

“Maybe some criticise him, but being competitive within the game is something I think all professionals should have. To be able to have this desire of always wanting to win and always wanting to do it makes you grow and makes you better.

“He’s a big player, a special player, one of the best in the Premier League, definitely.”

Fernandes will be key vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United returned to winning ways with a thrilling victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

The Red Devils were 2-0 down at half-time but showed great character and determination to come back and win the game 3-2.

The game today against Nottingham Forest away from home will be another difficult test. The Reds have looked really good since Nuno Espirito Santo‘s appointment, and his sides are always difficult to break down.

Manchester United need someone to unlock Forest’s defence, and who better than the man who has provided 20 assists since the start of last season – Bruno Fernandes.

The 29-year-old will be key if Manchester United are to pick up another win today.
