Nuno can use Conference League to end Tottenham’s silverware drought

Nuno must prioritise Conference League at Tottenham.

The Lilywhites haven’t won a trophy since 2008 and the fans are desperate for success.

Tottenham travel to face Vitesse Arnhem later in the Europa Conference League and it’s a chance to cement their spot in the group.

With a win the Lilywhites will be almost nailed on to qualify.

However, Nuno needs to start taking this competition more seriously as Spurs progress.

There aren’t going to be a lot of chances for Spurs to win trophies.

The strength domestically in the Premier League make the league title and domestic cups so difficult to win.

However, in Europe this season there is a real chance for Spurs to win a trophy.

It would be their first in 14 years and is certainly achievable.

Alongside Tottenham as the sides expected to go far in this competition are the likes of Roma and Stade Rennes.

Spurs have already played and drawn away at Rennes in the groups.

However, Roma could provide a stern test later down the line.

It won’t be an easy game if Tottenham do play the Italian side, not least because Jose Mourinho is their manager.

However, the strength that Nuno has in his squad surely makes the North London side the favourites.

Should they be able to coast into the knock-outs, Nuno will need to re-evaluate.

In the quarter-finals you’d want to see Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane starting and starring.

For now, second string sides should be fine, but this is such a good opportunity for the Lilywhites.
