TBR View: Newcastle left reeling as they battle Everton for Nunes transfer
Newcastle United seem to be left reeling whilst Everton are close to celebrating the transfer of Nunes.
The Portuguese midfielder would’ve been an ideal signing for Steve Bruce’s side.
Despite possessing a good number of players in central midfield, quality has been an issue.
Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden were the mainstays for much of last season.
However, neither players possess the quality needed to take the Magpies to the next level.
The former Liverpool man has been sporadic in his displays. Meanwhile, the former Arsenal man suffered numerous injuries last term.
Meanwhile, Nunes was amazing for Sporting in their title-winning campaign. He scored and assisted five goals in just 12 league starts.
Until Joe Willock’s arrival in January, Bruce’s men were starved of an attacking threat in midfield. There is a feeling could keep the youngster.
Nunes would be a brilliant second-choice for the ace, who can drive the team forward in similar fashion to the Englishman.
