Nottingham Forest player reaping rewards of playing for Europa League club
Nottingham Forest academy graduate Joe Worrall was allowed to join Rangers during the summer in what looks like an intriguing loan move.
The 21-year-old is a highly-rated central defender at the City Ground but was allowed to leave temporarily due to not featuring in Aitor Karanka’s plans for the forthcoming campaign.
A move to the Scottish Premiership is a massive step for Worrall’s career and the early prognosis from Ibrox looks promising.
Gers’ boss Steven Gerrard made Worrall wait patiently for his chance in the famous blue, but he appears to now be getting up to speed.
Worrall has played in both of Rangers’ Europa League ties, helping his new team-mates to an impressive four points from games against Villarreal and Rapid Vienna.
Since taking his Forest bow in 2016 the youngster has played 56 times for his boyhood club and there is a sense among some supporters that he can become a future captain of the club.
Playing games at a club the size of Rangers can only do Worrall’s development the world of good, whilst playing under a born winner such as Gerrard can offer invaluable benefits too.
Forest need their stars of the future to be playing regular football and Rangers are giving Worrall the chance to do just that. The SPL isn’t exactly the most challenging of leagues, but he will certainly reap the rewards of being able to experience big European nights.
