Nottingham Forest transfer news: Fabrizio Romano shares Chris Wood update

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a move for Newcastle United striker Chris Wood, according to multiple reports.

have reported that Wood is set to link up with the Reds on loan with an option to make the move permanent.

Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, has claimed that Forest are in advanced talks to bring the New Zealand international to the City Ground.

Negotiations are “progressing well” and “advancing”, while the player himself has “already approved the move”, added Romano.

Forest boss Steve Cooper has been looking for attacking reinforcements in wake of Taiwo Awoniyi’s extended spell on the sidelines.

The Nigeria international will reportedly miss two months of action due to a groin injury.

Meanwhile, Wood has slipped down the pecking order at Newcastle, behind Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak.

The 31-year-old has started just four Premier League games this term.

Nonetheless, Wood is a great shout for Forest. He is a talented and experienced marksman, proven in the Premier League, with 59 goals from 189 top-flight outings.

He has also won 70 caps for his nation, registering 33 goals.

Wood is also great at holding the ball up and helps out defensively.

Newcastle-based journalists have deemed him “” and “” in the past.

Wood is set to become Forest’s third signing of the January transfer window.

The Reds have already signed Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa from Palmeiras this month.

According to The Athletic’s Paul Taylor, Forest hope to add a central defender to their ranks before the deadline.
