Nottingham Forest submit £15m bid to sign player Wolves want as Pedro Neto replacement

Nottingham Forest were unable to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal after talks collapsed – but the Reds have swiftly moved on to a player Wolves want to buy.

Nuno Espirito Santo is searching for more firepower up front to compete against Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi, although a deal for Nketiah collapsed after Nottingham Forest failed to agree personal terms with the England international.

Now – however – Nottingham Forest have bid for a different forward, who is also admired by Wolves

Nottingham Forest bid for Yoane Wissa after Wolves talks

Sky Sports now reveal that Nottingham Forest have just made a £15m bid to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign, scoring one goal and assisting another in two Premier League appearances so far.

It comes after Mike McGrath of the Telegraph claimed that Wolves were in talks to sign Wissa – after Pedro Neto sealed a £54m move to Chelsea.

That situation has gone quiet – suggesting negotiations between Wolves and Brentford did not go well – although Nottingham Forest have now gatecrashed talks with a significant bid.

Should Brentford accept, it would represent a significant profit on the £8.5m spent to sign Wissa from Lorient back in August 2021.

How Brentford have responded

As we were writing up the initial report, Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports provided further updates.

He claims that Nottingham Forest bid £15m rather than the £25m figure that initially hit social media, while adding that Brentford have rejected the offer.

The Bees are said to be very keen on keeping the DR Congo international, but Premier League rivals sense an opportunity as the man from Villeneuve-Saint-Georges enters the final 24 months of his contract.

Thomas adds that Wolves are still monitoring Wissa, so perhaps those discussions with Brentford did not go as badly as first seemed.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Wissa could soon be joining either Nottingham Forest or Wolves before Friday’s transfer deadline.
