Nottingham Forest now proposing paying nearly £14m to land record-breaking forward
Nottingham Forest are trying to do a late deal with Ajax to bring striker Chuba Akpom back to England before the 11pm deadline.
Forest, never one to shy away from a transfer deal, have emerged as contenders to sign Akpom late in the day.

to Forest not so long ago. And now, taking to social media, the transfer guru has revealed Forest will pay nearly as part of their proposal.
Akpom became the first player in more than 3 for Middlesbrough last season before he sealed a big move to the Dutch giants Ajax in the summer.
However, things haven’t gone well for Akpom over in the Netherlands and the striker could now find himself back on English shores.
A big risk for Forest
We all know Forest can’t resist getting involved in most transfers but this one seems a strange one really.
Yes, they are short on actual number nines and the injury to Awoniyi has been a problem for them.
However, committing to paying nearly £14m for Akpom seems a bizarre way to do business for a striker who has basically had one good season for the most part in his career.
Once again, it seems like Forest are just throwing money at things and with FFP problems already lurking, there’ll be question marks over this one for sure.
Akpom, naturally, will relish the move to England and the Premier League. But Forest just need to be careful and this one could be a bad move all around.
