Report: Nottingham Forest could now lose Wembley hero before a Premier League ball is even kicked

Nottingham Forest might have just won promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs, but they could well have seen the last of James Garner.

The Manchester United loanee has had an outstanding season at the City Ground and was once again the star of the show at Wembley today. Garner put in a composed performance and it was his cross-come-shot that led to the winning goal for the Reds against Huddersfield.

However, Forest will need to fight hard to keep Garner for next season. He could get a chance at United, while the Garner is being watched by other Premier League clubs too, with Leeds among them. However, Brendan Rodgers is thought to be keen to test the water with Garner after being impressed with him this season.

Of course, Forest will be desperate to keep Garner if they can. They will look to Sheffield United convincing Old Trafford officials to let Dean Henderson stay on following the Blades’ own promotion in 2019.

TBR’s View: James Garner A Class Act Who Could Thrive At Forest Again

Garner will need and want a quick answer from Man United. If he’s not going to be playing then he should be allowed to move on and forge a career elsewhere. A loan with Forest again would work well, while a permanent switch would also be good for everyone.

The midfielder has really shown his class this term with Forest. He’s good on the ball, likes a tackle, and his dead ball deliveries are superb. He is ready for Premier League football, whether be with Steve Cooper’s side or not.

For Garner, it’s a key summer. He’s proven himself and needs another big year next season. Really, Forest should be going all out to ensure this happens.
