‘Absolutely dire’ – Some Nottingham Forest fans react to Burton Albion embarrassment

Nottingham Forest missed out on a place in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup after losing 3-2 to League One outfit Burton Albion.

Goals from Lewis Grabban and a debut strike for Arvin Appiah came in vain as a second string Forest were sent packing by Nigel Clough’s organised team.

It represents a minor blow for Forest boss Aitor Karanka. The Spanish boss will probably feel that he got the decision to make 10 changes to his starting line-up badly wrong.

The Reds had defeated Bury, Newcastle United and Stoke City in reaching the last 16 of the competition and the club’s supporters had hoped to progress even further.

Following the defeat at Burton, Karanka spoke about the game representing a missed opportunity for his players, whilst he will be desperately keen for his charges to bounce back on Saturday against Sheffield United.

The Blades will arrive on Trentside top of the Championship and the contest will be a good marker for the Reds to assess exactly what they can achieve this season.

Following the EFL Cup humbling, some Forest fans have been reacting to the disappointing display on Twitter. The Boot Room was on hand to round up the reaction…
