‘Not happy’: Thomas Partey issues Instagram statement after being sent off for Arsenal last night

Arsenal were completely outplayed by Liverpool at the Emirates last night and to make things worse, Thomas Partey got himself a red card late in the game.
The midfielder was away on international duty with Ghana at AFCON until Wednesday. His country were unfortunately knocked out in the first round and Partey was asked to return to Arsenal right away.
Arsenal flew him back to London from Cameroon and Mikel Arteta revealed that he touched down only at midday yesterday. He made the squad to face Liverpool, much to the surprise of many people.
Arteta brought him on in the second half and the Ghanaian picked up two yellow cards in the space of a few minutes.
Thomas Partey issues Instagram statement after his red card
Partey, like every Arsenal fan, was disappointed with his actions.
His sending off was completely avoidable and the consequence of that is he’ll miss the game against Burnley this weekend at a time when Arsenal are very light in central midfield.
The Ghanaian took to this morning to accept his mistake. He admitted that he should’ve been more intelligent after getting booked but claimed that it’s in his personality to take risks and fight for every ball.

TBR View:
Partey was definitely wrong to lunge in the way he did after he was already booked. It was a silly mistake that could cost Arsenal on Sunday, but he should never have been on the pitch in the first place.
The Ghanaian only returned to London seven hours before the game kicked off. It is understandable why Arteta wanted him in the squad considering all the players he’s missing, but it’s really unfair to expect Partey to be flawless after travelling all the way from Cameroon to London.
Partey will definitely learn from this and Arsenal fans will hope that he will come back a better player. He will miss the game on Sunday, but he will get a long break and that should help him recover and get back to his best.
