‘Not good enough’: Pundit says Celtic fan favourite isn’t at the level ‘everybody thinks he is’

Celtic full-back Jeremie Frimpong has been criticised by Charlie Adam, who told that the Hoops gem is “not good enough”.

The 20-year-old was impressive last season but, like many of his teammates, hasn’t been able to replicate that form often enough this season.

However, Frimpong remains a fan favourite at Parkhead, a talented young player with a lot of potential who has plenty of years of progress ahead of him.

Nonetheless, Adam hasn’t been convinced by Frimpong during what has been a difficult campaign for the defending champions, currently 19 points behind Premiership leaders Rangers.

The former Rangers midfielder, now at Dundee, told the that he didn’t rate the Dutchman as they discussed a mass exodus next summer.

“Your Frimpong, I don’t think he’s good enough,” he said.

“Yes, he’s good going forward but defensively I don’t think he’s at the level everybody thinks he is.

“They desperately need a right-winger with James Forrest coming back from an injury and I think he’s been a massive loss to them.

“If you look at the number of players who might want away if they lose ten-in-a-row, you’re looking at a brand new team.”

While Celtic have struggled for much of the season, Frimpong hasn’t been bad – he’s young and there are some things he needs to work on, but the potential is there.

Frimpong has been in recent days – if he wasn’t good enough for Celtic, why would a team just a few points off the Serie A summit be reportedly interested in him?
