‘Not good enough’: BBC pundit slates £2.2m Rangers man v Lyon

Glasgow Rangers defender Borna Barisic has improved massively under new Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

However, the £2.2million Rangers full-back has sometimes been known to struggle on one-on-ones.

And this proved the case in Thursday night’s Europa League draw away at Lyon.

Rangers took the lead in the 41st minute through Scott Wright.

The 24-year-old fired home via a deflection following good work from Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara.

Lyon, however, equalised against the Ibrox outfit on 48 minutes.

Rayan Cherki got the better of Barisic and drilled the ball into the centre.

The cross clipped the toe of Rangers defender Calvin Bassey and went into the net.

And BBC Sportsound pundit Charlie Adam was disappointed with how Cherki beat the .

“Brilliant play from Lyon but Barisic has to do better,” said the former Rangers man ().

Both Rangers and Lyon stepped up their attacking efforts late on but it finished all square in the end.

Rangers are next in action on Sunday when they travel to Hearts.
