‘Not going to happen’: £21m attacking ace won’t extend contract amid Arsenal links, eager for move

Arsenal were heavily linked with Manor Solomon earlier this year.

In June, reported that negotiations between the Gunners and Shakhtar Donetsk over the 22-year-old were in “full swing”.

Indeed, Solomon was even reported to be looking at residential options in England around that time, suggesting an Arsenal move was on the cards.

However, there weren’t any developments after that, and the Israel international continues to ply his trade for the Ukrainian giants.

Solomon’s agent, Shlomy Ben Ezra, earlier this month that his club wasn’t willing to sell.

“Shakhtar refused (offers from) anyone who approached them (during the summer),” he said.

“January is another starting point because there’s another transfer window but it depends on the team’s results in the Champions League.

“In the end, (a move away) will happen.”

Arsenal summer target Solomon: “My dream is to get to the biggest leagues”

Now, Solomon has spoken about his future to “The Frequent Traveler” podcast, as transcribed by .

“Shakhtar really wants me to extend my contract, but it’s not going to happen,” the young star said.

“I explained to them (my) main goal.

“I really like my club and the city, but I explained to them that my dream is to get to the biggest leagues and they understand that.”

Solomon’s contract runs until 2023 and, while he said he’ll continue to lead the team, it remains to be seen what happens next year.

reported in May that Shakhtar had set a £21million price tag for the player.

Solomon has impressed for club and country in recent years, and has been compared to the likes of Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez.
