‘Not giving up’… Tottenham still determined to sign ‘special’ player despite recent update

Tottenham Hotspur clearly approached the January transfer window with lofty ambitions, they saw a real opportunity to build on their success.

Spurs swiftly signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin, and seemed primed to build on that early progress.

The club shifted the likes of Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier – a clear demonstration of their new direction.

Tottenham have been proving their clear intention to back Ange Postecoglou’s project with real gusto.

And with that in mind, the club were said to be chasing the signature of Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa.

The 18-year-old winger is showing a ton of potential, and it seemed as if Tottenham were hoping to seal a deal in the January transfer window.

However, with a deal moving slowly, it now seems as if Brentford have stolen the march.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier that the club have agreed a deal to sign Nusa, with just the formal details to follow.

But Belgian journalist suggests the race isn’t over quite yet.

Tottenham haven’t given up on signing Antonio Nusa in January transfer window

Sharing his update on X, Calcoen said that Tottenham were still lurking around a deal alongside Chelsea and Newcastle United.

The journalist explained that Spurs hadn’t given up just yet, and suggested there’s still reason for optimism.

Calcoen said: “Update Nusa: in addition to Brentford, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle are also lurking.

“Those clubs are not giving up, which is attractive for Club Brugge: the price will be above thirty million euros.”

Of course, this is a very promising update from a Spurs point of view.

Nusa does look like a huge talent, the exact kind of player Postecoglou has been brilliant at developing in the past.

Tottenham are enjoying an excellent January transfer window, but signing ‘’ Nusa would be the cherry on top.

It remains to be seen if the club will make a concerted effort to chase the signing, especially given today’s updates.

But fans will rest assured that Spurs will make their interest known if they really do want Nusa to be part of their blossoming project.

That being said, Tottenham might instead turn to a Brazilian they’ve just made a bid for.
