‘Not for sale’… Arsenal will not be able to sign £86m striker in January now

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not be able to sign Viktor Gyokeres in the January transfer window.

That is according to The Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor on X.

So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Viktor Gyokeres? Let’s take a look.

Sporting Lisbon stance on Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres

Well, Arsenal have been . in Portugal reported this week that the Gunners are monitoring the 25-year-old striker.

West Ham United reportedly wanted to sign the Sweden international in the summer of 2023 before he moved to Sporting from Coventry City.

The Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor is now reporting on that Arsenal will not be able to sign Gyokeres in the January transfer window.

As you can see, Taylor has claimed that the striker is happy at Sporting, who will not negotiate a lower fee than his release clause, which is €100 million (£85.71 million).

My View: Arsenal could be able to sign Gyokeres

In my opinion, Arsenal could be able to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window.

Yes, I understand that Sporting do not want to sell him. After all, the Portuguese giants signed the striker only in the summer of 2023.

Sporting are aiming to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season. Gyokeres is their main striker. He has scored nine goals and given four assists in 11 league matches.

However, in football, money talks. All Arsenal need to do is trigger Gyokeres’s €100 million (£85.71 million) release clause. Sporting would then have to allow the striker to speak to the Gunners, and I am sure that the North London club would be able to convince him to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.

Now, whether Arsenal would be willing to spend €100 million (£85.71 million) on a striker in the middle of the season is another matter altogether.
