‘Not expected to go any further’: Sky journalist has disappointing transfer news for Everton fans

The Toffees are in dire straits at present and are desperately in need of attacking reinforcements.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has once again been plagued by injury problems.

Meanwhile, summer signing Neal Maupay has scored just once in 13 outings.

The was one of several outlets reporting on the links between Ings and Everton.

They claimed that Aston Villa turned down a loan bid from the Toffees for the 30-year-old striker.

Apparently, the Villans will only accept a permanent deal for Ings, as per the .

Today, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that Everton aren’t expected to proceed in pursuit of the striker.

“Everton did ask about taking Danny Ings on loan for the rest of the season,” he said on Sky Sports News ().

“But a deal could not be agreed with Aston Villa. The enquiry is not expected to go any further.”

Bad news for Everton, who really need to bolster their attacking ranks in order to have a fighting chance against relegation.

Ings would’ve been a great shout for the Toffees. He’s a Premier League veteran with a proven scoring track record in the English game.

He has made over 330 club appearances during his career, registering 115 goals. His tally this season stands at six goals from 17 Premier League outings.

The  man has also won three England caps and scored once for his country.

However, you can understand why Villa would rather just cash in on Ings and recoup a fee for him rather than loan him out to a Premier League rival.

It is believed that Unai Emery wants a more long-term option.

With Ings’ contract set to expire in 18 months, this may be the last chance to get a sizeable transfer fee for him.

West Ham, Southampton and Bournemouth are reported to be in pursuit of the striker, so it’s not like there isn’t any more interest in him.
