Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham have a player who is just ‘not clever enough’ to thrive under Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham might have a squad of talented players but former midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes one of the current crop just isn’t smart enough to ever be the main man for Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs are looking to push on from last season and get into the top four after throwing things away in the second half of the season.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou has seen new players arrive such as Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

However, he wants even more new signings, with a striker top of his list.

Indeed, there are claims that Dominic Solanke is the man Tottenham want to sign as continued speculation over the future of Richarlison hangs about.

The Brazilian striker hit a small patch of form last season but overall, his time at Tottenham has been underwhelming.

And according to Jamie O’Hara, Richarlison just isn’t clever enough in the final third to be the main man as it stands right now.

Richarlison told he’s not smart enough to be Tottenham’s main number nine

Speaking on about the potential signing of Solanke, O’Hara had some harsh words for Richarlison and suggested he is not smart enough to be Tottenham’s number nine.

“The problem with Richarlison is he knows where the net is, but his link-up play comes off him too much,” O’Hara said.

“You know, when it goes into little one-twos and around the box, he is not clever enough.

“And that, for me, he has got to work on and I am hoping Ange has gone into him and has been like, look we need to step up if you are going to play number 9 for us, if you are to be that player.”

Tottenham paid north of £50m to sign Richarlison and on , he is a high earner as well.

Richarlison is thought to be open to leaving, albeit Saudi Pro League clubs are apparently unwilling to pay big for the former Everton man.
