‘Not available’: Conte says ‘fantastic’ Tottenham player will miss today’s game

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon will miss today’s Premier League meeting with Leeds United.

Spurs will hope to end a somewhat underwhelming first half of the season on a high note at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North Londoners have blown hot and cold for much of the season, and have lost their last two games in all competitions.

After falling to a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, Tottenham were then knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Now, victory over Leeds would see Spurs all-but guarantee a top-four place over the World Cup break and past Christmas.

However, Conte will have to do so without Sessegnon, who picked up a knock against Nottingham Forest in the cup.

“About Sessegnon, today he didn’t train with us,” the Italian told on Friday.

“He had a little problem and he’s not available for tomorrow’s game.

“Richarlison and Kulusevski have another training session before we decide about the starting XI.”

‘Big, big improvement’

Sessegnon has needed some time to become a first-team regular at Tottenham, but he has certainly impressed Conte.

The £25million man has made 12 league appearances this season, scoring two goals.

Conte, who has previously deemed Sessegnon “fantastic“, singled the full-back out for praise at his presser.

“We signed [Ivan] Perisic but before he played a lot of games because I considered him a reliable player,” he told .

“Ryan for sure has had a big, big improvement in one year. Also, if you remember in the past he had many injuries.

“He has found a good stability and has improved a lot and in the future for sure he can become one of the players for the future England squad.”
