Jurgen Klopp has some bad news for Liverpool fans regarding Diogo Jota after the Portuguese international had to come off with an ankle injury.

The Reds took on Inter Milan at the San Siro last night and came away with a 2-0 win. Klopp’s men weren’t at their absolute best and it took them until the 75th minute to take the lead.

Liverpool are in the driving seat now ahead of the second leg but they have one huge concern – the injury to Jota.

The Portugal international is one of Klopp’s most important players, but he could now be set for a spell on the sidelines.

Jurgen Klopp: Diogo Jota has an ankle injury

Every Liverpool fan was delighted with the result last night but the concern over Jota’s injury is just as big. Klopp was quizzed about it after the game and his comments aren’t encouraging.

He said, as per : “A twisted ankle, it’s swollen, that’s not obviously a good sign, but we have to see.

“We will check it as early as possible tomorrow, but we need further assessment.”

A swollen ankle is never a good sign and losing Jota for a few weeks would be a huge blow for Liverpool.

The ex-Wolves man has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in all competitions this season. Mo Salah’s outrageous return this term overshadows Jota’s brilliant numbers, but every Liverpool fan knows how good the 25-year-old has been since the start of this campaign.

It will be interesting to see who Klopp will turn to if Jota is out for a little while. The obvious solution is Roberto Firmino, but with Luis Diaz now available, the German could tweak things up top in the coming weeks.
