How Christian Norgaard fared on his Arsenal debut against AC Milan has left fans impressed

Christian Norgaard was in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI as Arsenal faced AC Milan in pre-season. Here’s how he got on.

Pre-season isn’t the most important thing in the world, but for fans, it’s a chance to see new players in action for the first time – and that’s the case with Christian Norgaard.

Norgaard signed from Brentford for just £15m, becoming the third player to join the Gunners this summer after Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi moved to the Emirates.

The Dane was the first to debut for the Gunners – so how did he get on?

How Christian Norgaard played on Arsenal debut

Norgaard, all things considered, can be happy with his Arsenal bout. The Dane was entirely as expected. A classy midfielder with a great passing range, who plays neat, tidy football.

The 31-year-old lined up alongside Declan Rice – and here were his stats from the fixture.

He was substituted at half-time in a mass exodus from Mikel Arteta, but will surely feature more on Arsenal’s tour of Asia.

Arsenal fans impressed with Mikel Arteta’s new signing

Fans took to X to express their contentment with Norgaard, with some rave reviews for the £15m man.

One writes: ‘Norgaard has been really tidy on and off the ball.’

Another adds: ‘Norgaard didn’t play like he came for Squad Depth, Zubimendi hasn’t bought a chain and it’s looking snatched already.’

One more put: ‘Norgaard, another intelligent player who understands what is required from him already. Good to see, could be a massive plus.’

A solid signing, it seems. £15m in this market is nothing, so to repay that fee, Arsenal will be hoping for many more Norgaard performances like the one in the first half.
