‘Nonsense’…Arsenal won’t be signing £62m player despite recent reports

It seems a lifetime ago now that we were speaking about Chelsea pinching Mykhaylo Mudryk from under the noses of Arsenal.

At the time, the Gunners looked to have a mega-money deal for Mudryk wrapped up before Chelsea swooped in with and a huge contract offer to tempt the Ukrainian to West London.

Of course, Mudryk has not done the business at all since arriving at Stamford Bridge. And this week, reports began to surface that Arsenal would even consider going again for Mudryk if there was a chance of a deal.

However, writing for , journalist Dean Jones has said that as of now, any notion of Mudryk signing for Arsenal seems like complete ‘nonsense’.

Arsenal won’t be signing Mykhaylo Mudryk

Speaking about the issue for GMS, Jones has stated that there would just be no value in Arsenal trying to do a deal, given Chelsea won’t want to sell for cheap.

“It sounds like nonsense that Arsenal would want to sign Mudryk now. I don’t see a world where they could believe there’ll be much value in that deal. So, unless Chelsea are willing to take a huge hit on him, there doesn’t seem to be much sense to it. I haven’t heard great things about Mudryk since he arrived at Chelsea, although I think there are some reasons for that,” Jones .

A pointless signing

While Mikel Arteta might feel he can extract something from Mudryk that Chelsea have been unable to do so far, as it stands, there’s just no point in Arsenal signing him.

Sure, the Gunners might argue they need some strength in depth in the wide areas and on that front, Mudryk provides it.

But in reality, this is a player who has struggled enormously since coming to the Premier League and at the moment, he does not improve Arsenal’s XI one bit.

There are far better options out there right now for Arsenal if they want to sign a winger.

Chelsea, then, look like they’re stuck with Mudryk for some time yet.
