Noni Madueke’s role at Arsenal hinges on one departure and two potential big-money arrivals

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Arsenal have in store for Noni Madueke after he completed his move from Chelsea.

Arsenal agreed a £52million deal with Chelsea for Madueke a few days ago, and the deal was completed just before the weekend.

Arsenal have signed Madueke on a five-year contract, unveiling him on their website and on their socials on Friday afternoon.

TBR Football can also confirm what Arsenal are planning with regards to more attacking signings after Madueke.

Arsenal could yet sign Eberechi Eze or Rodrygo amid Leandro Trossard uncertainty at N5

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Madueke will largely be utilised on the right flank, as cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.

However, much depends on what happens on the left-hand side, with potential movement there over the coming weeks.

There’s also a chance Madueke could play centrally – all in all, he’s a versatile option who brings a lot to the red-and-white table.

“He’s coming into the squad to essentially replace Raheem Sterling,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“From what I understand, he’ll predominantly be used on the right.

“Obviously, it will also depend on what Arsenal do on the left-hand side – they’re still actively pursuing a deal for Eberechi Eze or Rodrygo, with the intention of letting Leandro Trossard go.

So yes, there’s room for Madueke in the squad. He’s taking Sterling’s spot, and while he could play more centrally – as I’ve mentioned – that’s possible, but not guaranteed.

“Overall, I think he represents very good value for what he offers. I expect we’ll mainly see him on the right, although I could see him being used in other positions as well.”

How many years Mikel Arteta has been interested in Noni Madueke

Links between Arsenal and Madueke began doing the rounds not long after Arteta had just embarked on his first managerial job and the player was a teenager coming through the ranks at PSV.

Back in January 2020, the Daily Mail reported that Arsenal were keen on Madueke, who was 17 at the time and had not long made his PSV debut.

Links between Arsenal and Madueke resurfaced in 2021, though a host of other clubs were linked, such as Liverpool and former employers Tottenham Hotspur.

When Madueke joined Chelsea, it looked as though that would be the end of the Gunners’ interest in the player – but that wasn’t the case, and now they’ve got him.
