Noel Whelan reacts to Mateusz Klich’s display in Leeds win
Noel Whelan that Mateusz Klich looked a lot more like his old self as Leeds United beat Spurs on Saturday, insisting that it was the kind of display that will leave fans wanting him to play more once again.
Klich has endured a disappointing spell. He has not scored or provided an assist since December. And his form saw him drop out of the starting lineup in March.

He got 90 minutes under his belt for the first time since February at Brighton. But like many of his teammates, he did not have the best afternoon on the south coast.
However, he kept his place against Tottenham. And he went on to produce an absolutely outstanding display as Leeds beat Spurs 3-1 at Elland Road.

It was a performance that prompted plenty of Whites fans to laud the 30-year-old on social media. And Whelan suggested that that was the kind of display that Marcelo Bielsa needed to see from the Poland international.
“Today, that was more like him. The freedom, the running, the work-rate, the tenacity in midfield, the quality, the link-up play,” .
“He had a little bit more belief and confidence in his ability today and you could see that out there on the field. And that’s the sort of midfield player that we want.
“People have actually been quite happy with him sitting on the bench. And that’s a problem. When he puts in that sort of performance, then we start changing our mind. Right, now he’s back to what he should be, maybe we should playing him more often.”
In truth, it should not be a surprise to see Klich bounce back from a dip in form. He has previously silenced his critics after enduring tough spells.
Of course, the most famous came when he could not get a look-in under Thomas Christiansen. He went on to take a matter of minutes to prove himself under Bielsa.
But his form has dipped on a couple of occasions since then. And he has responded by getting back on track in superb fashion.
Klich perhaps needs to now show in the final weeks of the season that the blip was the anomaly rather than the fantastic performance against Spurs.
