No shock repeat of Steven Caulker move to Liverpool as he heads to Turkey

One time England international Steven Caulker is on the move again. The central defender cancelled his contract with Dundee in August but it is only now he has found himself a new team. He was officially unveiled by Turkish Super Lig club Alanyaspor yesterday.

Caulker has been candid about his problems both on and off the pitch and it seems he wants a more rounded career now, taking the chance to play and live in new places, whilst also escaping the ire of the British media. Hopefully, Turkey will be a good location for him.

But it is strange to think that just three years ago, nearly to the day, he was signed by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The then QPR man was on loan at Southampton at the time but had that deal cancelled in order to head to Anfield. Liverpool had something of a defensive shortage and Klopp decided that bringing in the England cap was a good deal for the club.

Caulker was rarely used at Liverpool. In fact, most people will remember him for playing as an auxiliary striker.

Liverpool, of course, have recently found themselves in a similar situation. Injuries to Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have seen Liverpool short at centre-back. But on this occasion, there was no chance of Liverpool re-signing the free agent.

Liverpool fans will, however, wish their former player only the best in his latest adventure, three years after his shock move to Anfield.
