‘No problem’: Antonio Conte suggests Tottenham player is not injured, being assessed later today

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has suggested that Ryan Sessegnon is not injured, he will be assessed later today.

Spurs put in a dismal display against Nottingham Forest last night and exited the EFL Cup in the third round.

Goals from Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard handed Forest a 2-0 win and Conte’s men looked sluggish.

Sessegnon looked exhausted towards the end of last night’s game and was limping around the pitch.

But Conte had already used all of his substitutes in the game and the 22-year-old was forced to carry on. Now, the Italian has said Sessegnon is not injured but was just battling through fatigue at the City Ground.

Spurs are now right at the end of a gruelling fixture schedule as they’ve played 10 games over the past month. It’s no surprise to see the players struggling with fatigue after the games have been packed into a short period due to the World Cup.

Tottenham certainly looked as if they were feeling the effects last night as they were lacking in energy.

Conte will be hoping for positive news regarding Sessegnon ahead of an important game against Leeds on Saturday.

The Italian has been boosted by the return of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison over the past week.

Both players featured last night as they came off the bench and Conte has hinted they could be ready to start against Jesse Marsch’s side.

Spurs will be hoping to pick up a positive result in north London on Saturday to keep them in the top-four heading in the World Cup.
