‘No chance’… Rob Holding says nobody can take the ball off £27m Arsenal player

Rob Holding has hailed Arsenal defender William Saliba and has claimed that nobody can take the ball from him.

The Gunners have one of the best defences in the Premier League, and Saliba is their main man at the back. He is a phenomenal defender, and Holding has been amazed by his strength.

Rob Holding says nobody can take the ball off Arsenal’s William Saliba

Arsenal signed William Saliba from Saint-Etienne back in the summer of 2019 for £27 million ().

The Frenchman was only a teenager then, but everybody could see that he had the potential to become one of the best defenders in Europe.

Mikel Arteta took his time before giving Saliba his debut at Arsenal, but since he did that, the 22-year-old has been a level above most other defenders in the world.

Rob Holding shared the dressing room with Saliba last season, and he seems really impressed with the France international’s strength.

He claimed that Saliba is built like a unit and nobody can take the ball off him.

Holding said on : “You’ve got someone like Saliba who’s a unit, but you never see him in the gym benching, you never see him.

I’ve seen him do pull-ups and it’s not the best technique and there’s not many of them (laughs).

“But then you try and get the ball off him, no chance! You try to run past him, he’ll just go: ‘Nah, you stay there, I’m going to get the ball’. And he’s rapid as well, he’s fast.”

William Saliba can lead Arsenal to glory

Arsenal came ever so close to winning the Premier League title last campaign. They would’ve probably won it if William Saliba hadn’t suffered a season-ending injury.

The Frenchman, thankfully, is fully fit now, and as long as Arsenal can keep it that way, they have every chance of winning the title this season.

As Holding rightly said above, Saliba is an absolute unit. He is huge, strong and surprisingly rapid for someone his size. He’s excellent in the air too, while his ability and calmness on the ball make him one of the best defenders in the country.

Arsenal’s recent form hasn’t been great, but as long as they have Saliba at the back and find a way to score goals at the other end of the pitch, they will be fine.
