Nikola Katic has explained that he wants to join Rangers teammate Borna Barisic in the Croatia national side.
Katic, 23, is a no-nonsense centre-back that has become an important player at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard and is a rock in the defence.
He’s a physical presence that is great in the air and also extremely composed when in possession.
Katic earned his sole senior cap for Croatia back in 2017 against Mexico in a friendly and has not been recalled since.
Meanwhile, club teammate Barisic has managed to become the first-choice left-back for Croatia and is part of a new-look side since they came runners-up in the 2018 World Cup.
The 26-year-old full-back played in both games against Hungary and Wales during the international break, where he impressed against Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in the latter.
Katic has praised his fellow Rangers defender Barisic and feels he’s in a rich vein of form.
“Playing for Croatia in future is an aim, Borna is doing brilliantly at the moment and he showed against Gareth Bale his quality and proved how good he is,”

TBR’s View:
Croatia have to be considered one of the best international teams around right now despite their slight dip after the World Cup and they are stacked with quality individuals.
It’s great news for Rangers that Barisic is holding down a spot in their starting XI and he certainly appears to be hitting the peak of his career.
The attack-minded is such an offensive threat when he bombs forward and has a great delivery with his left foot, while the defensive side of his game has improved too.
Katic certainly has the potential to make the step up to the national side in years to come and is a player improving under Gerrard.
