Nikola Katic has told that he joked with Ross Wilson on his final day as a Rangers player that he will see him in a couple of years when the Ibrox chief wants to re-sign him.
Katic left the Gers right at the end of the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old’s departure came more than two years after what proved to be his final appearance for the club.

Of course, Katic spent a whole season on the sidelines with injury. And then, he left Ibrox on loan last year, joining Hajduk Split.
But any Rangers fans hoping that that spell would set the stage for the centre-back to return to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plans were set for disappointment.

Katic was given the green light to leave permanently last month, joining FC Zurich. For many, it will be an extremely sad way for the cult hero’s spell to end.
However, Katic does not necessarily believe that he has already made his last appearance for Rangers.
“It was really difficult to leave as the support was amazing over the four years. Even when I was on loan, they wanted signed Hajduk shirts. It was a really big thing for me to be loved by the fans like that,” .
“I will always have a connection to Rangers. I said to (sporting director) Ross Wilson on my last day that I’ll see him in two years when he buys me back!”.
Katic eyeing future Rangers return
Obviously, Katic and Rangers will probably not be expecting to be reunited in the future. His focus will be on helping Zurich recover from their awful start to the domestic season while also navigating a Europa League campaign.
Meanwhile, Rangers will hope that they are vindicated for selling Katic in the summer. He was most definitely a fan favourite during his time with the Gers.
So the decision to sell him may have been tougher than most the Rangers hierarchy dealt with this summer.
Katic, at his best, was colossal for Rangers. So it would probably mean the world to all parties if their path did cross again in the future.
