Niclas Fullkrug admits he’s had a ‘really bad’ start at West Ham and explains the reason why
Niclas Fullkrug was one of West Ham’s most ambitious signings this summer, yet things haven’t gone to plan with the Germany international.
Injuries have limited the 31-year-old attacker to just four appearances in all competitions, with Fullk𒆙rug missing Saturd⛎ay’s 4-1 loss against Tottenham with the West Ham striker still out on the treatment table.
With West Ham eyeing Fotis Ioannidis as a replacement already for Fullkrug, there’s a real chance that the former Borussia Dortmund star could go down as yet another top🌠 striker who failed to make the grade in east London.
Yet Fullkrug has now come out and sh🧸ared why he thinks this 𒁏season has been bad at West Ham.

Fullkrug pins lack of pre-season rest for ‘really bad’ West Ham start
Speaking to , the West Ham forward noted how a lack of rest this summer after an exhausting 2023/24 season has led to Fullkrug starting the new campaign with his new Premier Lꦐeague side in poor form.
Fullkrug played over 50 games for club and country 🦹last season as Dortmund made it to the UEFA Champions League final as Germany reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, and a lack of pre-season rest has caught up with the 31-year-old.
Fullkrug said: “I had a really bad start. I moved to London to West Ham after a very short summer break and after an intensive year last season, I think I played 57 games last season. And then a shor💎t break in which I felt that I had recovered relatively well.
“But then I had a rocket start because I moved here a week and a half before the start of the Premier League season and had a few seꩵssions at BVB. I’m working very hard for 🌟it; I’m undergoing treatment and I’m getting good support at West Ham and I just hope that I’ll get fit again as soon as possible and can finally play in the Premier League on a permanent basis and show what I’m capable of there too.”

West Ham need to be patient with Fullkrug’s fitness
Fullkrug was one of many exciting signings West Ham made this summer, yet like the club as a whole this season, the Germany star has been a disappointment und💎er Julen Lopetegui.
Niclas Fullkrug 2023/24 stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Bundesliga | 31 | 12 | 8 |
UEFA Champions League | 12 | 3 | 2 |
DFB Pokal | 2 | 1 | 0 |
Total | 46 | 16 | 10 |
However🅠, as per Fullkrug’s numbers from last year, the 31-year-old is a proven goalscorer at the highest level𝓀 in Europe, with the attacker also quite productive when it comes to assisting his teammates, as well.
And🐼 for West Ham, the Irons need to be patient Fullkrug and his road to recovery, withꦫ the attacker a player who will cone good eventually for the east London side once he is over his injury problems.
