Nicky Butt rules out Aston Villa permanent move for Axel Tuanzebe

that he believes Axel Tuanzebe has a big future at Old Trafford, suggesting that a permanent move to Aston Villa is unlikely.

Tuanzebe, 21, has been in excellent form for Aston Villa this season after joining the club on loan for a second time last summer. He is preparing to take part in Villa’s play-off campaign.

A broken foot kept Tuanzebe sidelined for 16 games between December and March, but he has still managed to clock up 27 appearances in all competitions for Dean Smith’s side.

Asked about Tuanzebe’s promise and his future, Manchester United head of academy Butt stated that the Villa loanee has a big future at Old Trafford – seemingly ruling out a permanent move to Villa this summer.

Axel is a very talented boy, who I do believe is going to have a good career at Manchester United,  There is no point sitting around not playing football and he’s gone to Aston Villa, who are a big, big club

He got injured but is back playing well again now and now he has a few big play-off games coming up.

TBR’s view

Tuanzebe has arguably been Villa’s most consistent centre-back either side of his injury, with James Chester, Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings and Tommy Elphick all vying for a place in the play-off side.

Villa will have a better chance of signing the defender permanently if they can win the Championship play-offs, but surely if Tuanzebe is told he has the chance to break into United’s first team – he will pursue it.

It remains to be seen what does happen to Tuanzebe this season, but Butt’s comments certainly suggest Villa be told they will not be signing the England youth international.
