Nick Pope could be ideal back-up for Arsenal with Petr Cech and David Ospina set for summer exits

Arsenal will be searching for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window with both back-up options set to depart.

Petr Cech will be retiring at the end of the season, while David Ospina – currently on loan at Napoli – is keen on a return to South America, .

As a result, Arsenal need to find a new goalkeeper to deputise for Bernd Leno and even push him for the starting jersey.

, The Gunners are ready to move for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope at the end of the season.

Unfortunate injury circumstances earned Pope his meteoric rise to stardom at Turf Moor but in cruel fashion, they also robbed him.

Tom Heaton suffered an injury and Pope kept his place even when the initial Burnley first choice was out. The 26-year-old was so impressive that he helped Burnley reach the Europa League and earned a place in England’s World Cup squad.

But after dislocating his shoulder, the once-capped England international has lost his place in the Burnley squad this season.

Pope has been limited to just two outings (both in the FA Cup) since the opening game of the season.

The Clarets now have Heaton and Joe Hart, as well as Pope, so Arsenal could tempt him away in the summer.

And given his proven quality in goal, Pope could be the ideal reserve option to push Leno between the sticks.
