Swedish media comment on Lucas Bergvall’s progress after incredible goal yesterday

It’s become clear that Tottenham Hotspur have signed a very talented young Swedish international in midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

Still only 18-years-old, Bergvall is now looking incredibly impressive during Djurgarden’s Swedish cup run.

Bergvall started as his side’s attacking midfielder and played 72 minutes yesterday, performing a crucial role.

And as well as scoring a quite astonishing solo effort during the game, the young Swede was also praised for how he was supporting the attackers around him.

But perhaps what will be of interest the most to Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham fans, is that the media in Sweden have now been commenting on how much Bergvall looks to have improved recently.

Bergvall, who will join Tottenham before next season begins, looks to have turned a corner during the winter judging by reaction to his performance yesterday.

The outlet provided a run down of his display, and discussed a maturity the midfielder is now showing.

They commented: “The star shot has clearly shown a nice development over the winter break, and already looks comfortable in white match kits.

“Bergvall extended the lead for the Blue Stripes in the eleventh minute and was also relatively close to doubling his goal yield for the day already in the first half.

“At the beginning of the second half, he served [Deniz] Hummet a fantastically nice little poke past Nordic’s centre-back to make it 3-0.

“Moments later, he single-handedly drove the ball up from his own half to dribble away a number of opponents before he could roll the ball in behind the goalkeeper.

A huge talent

Of course, you’d imagine that a lot of Tottenham fans will now be glued to the Swedish cup to watch how Bergvall does progress.

The midfielder should still play a substantial amount of games before he joins Spurs in the summer.

And although he’ll need time to adjust to life in North London, he could arrive in very good shape and momentum.

The Swedish Cup is nowhere near as competitive as the football Bergvall will experience in England, but he should report for duty well practised and prepared.

All that being said, one Tottenham youngster has now been trying to model his game on James Maddison
