‘Next step’: Celtic star linked with Arsenal given Lewandowski target by boss
Odsonne Edouard has been linked with a total of 27 clubs during his time at Celtic, including the likes of .
While the Frenchman may get his move to a higher level in the summer, his current manager believes there is still room for improvement in his game.
Despite his team enduring a hugely disappointing campaign, Edouard has a return of 20 goals in 34 games for the season.
Interim Celtic boss John Kennedy feels the 23-year-old should aspire to the standards set by Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
As quoted by , he said: “I absolutely love Odsonne in terms of what he gives to the team.
“The only thing he has lacked in the last period is that clinical edge and we have spoken about that.
“In terms of becoming a top striker, Odsonne has all the tools. I have worked with many strikers and in terms of the level he can go to, he can go to the very top.
“But he is still young and he is still developing and working.
“He needs to add that clinical edge. You see Benzema and Lewandowski, all the top guys, they are ruthless.
“So that is the next step for Odsonne. It would be very nice to be able to do that in the next game.
“Sometimes you go through periods, in terms of confidence, when you might not be as clinical as you can be.
“But that will come and I can see it coming.
“We are dominating games and keeping the other team away from goal. Our possession and control of the game is good and we’re creating chances.
“It’s just about adding that final bit, which is also the hardest.”
Celtic produced one of their best performances of the season on Saturday, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Livingston.
That result ensures confidence is high at Celtic Park ahead of this weekend, when they will face Rangers in a Scottish Cup fourth round derby at Ibrox.
